I found this site a brilliant resource when we first had Bodie as a puppy.
Shes now 3 years old and I wanted to know what her ideal weight should be.
I've searched the web and English Cocker Spaniels should be 13 - 14kg But Bodie is a working cocker and is much taller than the cocker spaniels we come across. Unfortunatley we dont know any working ones to compare her against.
Shes around 15k but doesnt look too big well at least until her fur grows when she looks more like a grizzly bear.
I want to keep an eye on her especially over winter when we are limited on a night to on the lead walks.

Cockers vary in size and build so much that it's impossible to give an ideal average weight. You're better off using your hands and eyes when assessing whether your dog is overweight or just right. Does Bodie have a visible waistline? Can you feel her ribs easily without having to press into her body? If so, she's fine :D

I was going to say similar, workers vary hugely, Freya is now 15 months and only 8.5kg, shes tiny. I just look at thier waists and check you can feel the ribs easily

My two pet working cocker bitches were weighed last week.
Stevie weighs just over 15 kgs and Marley just over 16 kgs.
They are 3 years old and have been spayed.
The vet said this was the ideal weight for them as he could feel their individual ribs and they have definite waists.  :D
Working cockers do vary in height and length so weights will be different.  ;)
My girls can look quite chubby as they have full coats. It is only when they are wet, that you can really see their shape.  ;)
Max (GSP)  always in my heart

Thanks for the quick response's Its put my mind at rest. I always struggle to find info specific to working cockers online so its much appreciated. She looks ok to me you can feel her ribs and see the defiinition in her back and is always full of life. No matter how many walks, swims or hiding games she has she would not stop.
Thanks again
