Good to hear that Meg is continuing to improve Emma, it must be so lovely to get your old girl back  :luv:

Hope her and Alfie are having loads of fun playing together now that she's got her batteries re-charged! :lol2:

Aww Emma I am so sorry but I have only just seen this I did not know that cutie Meg had been poorly, it sounds like she is responding brilliantly to her treatment I am so pleased for you all.
Looking forward to seeing her photos.

Thank you :luv:

When we were on a walk before Alfie was playing with a huge Labradoodle and suddenly Meg came from nowhere and body slammed them both, running around jumping and barking :lol2: :lol2: i couldnt stop laughing it was hilarious :005:
There's still not that much running around on walks but she's improving all the time and certainly has her spring back in her step ;) :luv:

Just a little update.

We were back at the vets on Wednesday so that she could have another test done to check her levels- it had gone from 6 to 66 (she should be within 10-55), which is too high so they have now reduced her tablet to 0.2mg per day. We have been told to go straight back if she starts to 'come down' but so far so good.

All in all she is doing just fab :luv: seems to be loving life again like she used to. Walks with her are now a pleasure :D.

Please, please, please if you suspect anything with your dog just get them tested- it's the best thing we've done ;)

From what I've learnt on this & other relevant threads, it can take a while to get the meds right (& to continue testing/checking to ensure they stay right) but it sounds like your Meg is doing so well now & you sound so pleased to have your old girlie back Emma   :luv:
I'm really happy for you  ;) :-*

(I did ask at vets about Purdey & got a little 'fobbed off' - am giving them till the end of the month & will then insist! More than likely, she hasn't got a problem but for £80 (the cost of the test apparently  ::) ) I would be more than happy to pay to be proved wrong  ;) )
If your dog thinks you're the best.....don't seek a second opinion!!

I know Lindsey they are a pain arent they ::)- we practically had to spell it out to our vet :shades:. It really is worth it ;).

Thank you :luv: xxx

Update on Meg-
She is doing GREAT. She really is like a puppy again and has improved no end. In the last couple of weeks her eyes have become a bit dry and her skin quite a bit flakey so we mentioned it to the vet at her appointment last Weds. She said it was probably just to do with her condition and would settle eventually, and that she most likely just has a little infection in her eyes so in the meantime she has some antibiotics and some special (and expensive) shampoo that should help with her flakiness. After just over a week of using both she has really improved :D

Other than that though she is fab, her levels have settled now and her daily dosage is 0.2mg of throxine i think?? But maybe soloxine? The vet is happy with this and we only have to go back now in 6 months unless we have any more problems :D
She has also lost quite a bit of weight- she went from 14.5kg to 13.5kg in a month :o which the vet said was ideally a bit too much, but as long as she doesnt continue to lose it at that rate she should be fine. She certainly looks more toned ;) but could still benefit from losing a bit more, especially around her middle :shades: :005:.

On walks she now runs around with Alfie (although isnt quite as fast :005:) and does a lot of swimming, which she hadnt done for ages. She has also started to pull on the lead :o, and we havent been correcting her because we like it ph34r :005:, poor Alfie still gets told though :005: :luv:

Excellent news, just shows you what a huge impact a malfunctioning thyroid has.  :D
