Sending you and Fred lots of love.

My last but one cocker, Rumpole, was diagnosed with liver cancer, the vet told me to go home and make a decision.  Like Fred, Rumpole, was well, he had lost weight, but he was well, so I didn't make the final decision then and Rumpole lived for a further 18 months and he was happy right until the end.

So, if Rumpole had another 18 months after being given no time, if they have mentioned 1-2 years for Fred, I pray that it is the same ratio for Fred and he has many many more years.

Sending love and positive healing thoughts your way.  :luv:

Just remember that a time line given by a vet or doctor is really only a guess, and many people and animals have beaten the odds.   :bigarmhug:

So very sorry to hear about Fred  :'( I hope he stays well and happy for a long long time to come  :luv:

I know it must be so difficult at the moment to think any sort of positive thoughts, but Fred will not be aware that he has an 'illness' fortunately they can't take on our human worries about the future, all Fred knows is that he is a lucky boy to have you and that he is much loved and cherished and that is not going to change for him.  He will have no fears, concerns or anxiety about what is to come, and he will continue to enjoy his life, his food, his walks and cocker cuddles with you  :luv: :luv: :luv:

Hi All

Specialist vet has had the lab recheck the biopsies - and he was right, they were wrong. Sadly no change in prognosis - we're still on borrowed time. But its not a liver shunt. Its hepatitis. This makes me feel slightly better - not sure why!!

Have got the milk thistle in and Hills special food, and am hoping to see my normal vet on Friday to discuss treatment.

He did say he knew the diagnosis was wrong, and therefore the 1 year prognosis was based on hepatitis, but did warn me it could be a lot less than that, based on the level of cirrhosis already in Freds liver. Lets hope not eh? xx

Along with Milk Thistle, Brook was put on Vitamin E tablets -  I don't think I ever asked her why but I imagine they must do something to help the liver

Good luck for Friday - and enjoy being spoilt, Fred  :luv:
