Diarrhoea after worming?
« on: February 18, 2012, 01:29:10 AM »
wormed everyone this evening  :shades:

evening meal at 6:30
worming tablet at about 7:00
diarrhoea at 10:30 for Hazel

is it normal for worming tabs to cause diarrhoea?  These were drontal + and she weighs 10.80kg so she had 1 tablet.

Never known diarrhoea after worming tabs...  :-\

Hamish is normally fine with his worming tablets, but last time we wormed him he had a day or so of diarrhoea. He'd just gotten over a stomach bug so that may have been a contributing factor but I think it can be a side effect of worming tablets sometimes. Not sure whether the type of tablet makes any difference.

Yes it seems its normal. Vets say they will be fine but lots of cocker owners report diarrhoea or vomiting after giving some wormers and drontal is often the wormer used.

I've always found milbemax to be fine.

Just to further put your mind at rest, we use Milbemax now after Drontal really upset their tums....and no problems at all.  I think in UK it is prescription only, but you can get it online from Australia with no prescription needed; depends what works out better value for you.

Hope she is ok now   :shades:

I haven't used Drontal for years because it made both my first 2 Cockers throw up and has the same effect on William. I've used Milbemax on William and Louis for the last couple of years and they're both fine with it.
