Little appetite?
« on: September 04, 2012, 06:14:42 PM »
Hi i hope someone can help put my mind at rest.
Our little Rosie, who's a just under 7 months, suddenly doesn't seem particular interested in her food.  Since we've had her she's always eaten her breakfast and dinner within half hour or so of feeding time. But recently (within the last 10-7 days) she's leaving it over night and then late into the day.  She's perfectly fine in herself and no obvious other symptoms, she's drinking plenty and other end is fine.

Within the week we've tried different food types and the only thing that seems to have been interesting enough to warrant eating with keeness is cooked chicken. We're back on her 'junior' food now but the packet says she should now be on adult. She's previously eaten that food with no worries and isn't now that interested in it now although this mornings feed has gone.

The only other things to have changed is the introduction of a small baby human in to her environment - but would that change effect her eating?

Any ideas welcome...

Thanks

I personally wouldn't leave the food out, if after 30 mins she's left some I'd just take it away.
If your leaving it out she could be grazing on it over hours so buy feeding time she wouldn't be due a feed or even be hungry anyway.
A number of people on here use the wainwright trays you can get in Pets@Home you could add a wee spoonful to brighten her dinner up (what I have to do to our Holly's dinner as she's a fussy begger) put it down for 30mins then remove it untill she's due her next feed

Has she came into season yet? I believe that can cause a decrease in appetite.

Yes it could be the reason  :-\
Georgia esp. used to go off her food pre season (she's spayed now)  :shades:
I also never leave their food down for more than 15 mins  :shades:
I guess she might also be feeling unsure with a new baby arriving  :-\
Congratulations on your new arrival too  :clapping:

I did wonder about her coming into season. She's not had one yet.
Will try taking the un eaten food away that's a good suggestion.

And thanks for the congrats ninasmum
