Biting Dew Claws
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:36:18 AM »
I've noticed in the last few days that Toby seems to be having the odd nibble at his dew claws.  They are not overly long, in fact his groomer says they don't need trimming yet and she noticed that he might have been biting them.

Has anyone else encountered this or have any ideas why he would be doing it?

Is Toby favouring one dew claw or is he appearing to nibble both?

Have you checked them carefully around the base to see if there is anything that may be causing irritation, i know it is not always easy to inspect dew claws unless the hair is very short, but nibbling in an area may be a sign of perhaps skin irritation.

Or could they be cracked or split in any way Mel ?

The only time Ruby seems to have payed any attention to her feet has been because of a cracked nail or a grass seed.
People laugh at me because I'm different, but I laugh at them because they are all the same.
