Another lump question!
« on: April 24, 2007, 02:36:56 PM »
We have found another lump on Woofie (the last was quite a big benign fatty lump that was removed from his side when he had a GA for something else last December).

This lump is on his chest and feels a bit like a pea.  It moves around a bit when I feel it and isn't causing him any problems.

Is it ok to wait until we go to the vets about something else or should I get it checked out now?

Any opinions gratefully received  :D

Crackers had a lump like this for years, it was near her mammary glands, and it never did anything, so I think you could wait till the next time you go to the vet. Just keep an eye on it.  :shades:

I would get it checked out  ;)
I didn;t worry too much about small a lump that Molo had on his side, only to eventually discover that it was Panniculitis, and had "grown" inwards undetected by my regular checks, the surgery he eventually had was far more invasive as a result  :-\

The lump Peggy has just had removed sounds like this one, and Peggy's was cancer. I'd say get it checked.

Have been to the vets this morning and Woofie has had two fine needle aspirations.  The vet said he was so convinced that its just a fatty lump (I think he called it a lipoma) that he didn't send it to the lab.

So good news  :D

Great news - did the vet examine the biopsies himself?  ;)

He only looked at them by eye if thats what you mean? But said they were really greasy and he was satisfied that it was just a lipoma.

I thought he might have popped them under a microscope....but if he is happy they are nothing to worry about, then he obviously felt that he didn't need to  ;)
