How would you know if your dog was a carrier?
The only way to detect carriers is by a DNA test. At present, there is a DNA marker gene test available for prcd-PRA in Cockers via an American laboratory - more details can be found at
www.optigen.com. Quite a few European & Scandinavian breeders are using the test as well as a tiny handful of UK owners. However there is no UK-based test & there is unlikely to be one anytime soon.
