Awwww, thanks everyone! He got a bit upset going into the vets, but the vet nurse was great and took his teddy with him too. I've to phone after 3pm and hopefully pick him up then.

Thanks Shirley, it went ok. He's home now, feeling miserable with a buster collar on - for ten days! I wish they'd told me about it, I don't know what to do at night, should he sleep in his crate as usual?

One blood test concerned them - his liver reading came back high, so that has to be repeated in 2 days, so I hope it's nothing.

He's still woozy from the drugs, and annoyed with his lampshade collar, I hope he gets used to it soon, bless him. Thanks for asking

Poor Indie - those collars are no fun  I'm sure with loads of TLC and a good nights sleep, he will be more like his usual self tomorrow :D

Thanks guys! He had an ok night, I was worse than him, and his eye looks much better this morning - it was like a horror movie yesterday, and he couldn't close it, but it's much better looking this morning. He had scrambled eggs about 8pm last night, and loved it, and a big drink. He had some chicken this morning, so is eating well. He still hates the collar with a vengance, I just hope he gets used to it soon.

Im seeing the vet tomorrow or Saturday, and we'll repeat his liver tests and check his healing, Im counting the days/hours till  his collar comes off!

Hi,
Just read all about your problem - so sorry to hear about it. What a worry.
I'm afraid Tia didn't get used to the collar - tolerated it and then was ultra happy when it came off!
Good luck,

Mary, I was going to ask you how she did with it. I've had to pad the neck part with elastoplast and cotton wool, it was really sharp and hurting his neck, but it's better now. He uses it as a shovel outside, but he really is quite subdued which is sad to see. I can't wait till it's off, 7 days now and counting.

My friend in the USA showed me a picture of her dog with his posh padded version - like a kids shampoo shield, made out of padded cotton, I wish I'd had the foresight to order one.

Hi Shona,
I'm really sorry not to have replied, but my PC packed up - no web access, and I'm only just back to normal and trying to read all that I've missed on COL.......
I guess your collar must be gone now - hope it was as joyful release for you as it was for us! No, I didn't pad it as we looped her collar through it and that kept it in a good position.
How's he getting on now?

Hi Mary, thanks. He's much better he's got the collar off now, it really did seem to be irritating his skin, it was red raw in places, bless him.

He's still getting eye drops, but it's looking good and the vet is pleased, thanks for asking, I hated that collar thingy!

Glad to hear the collar has gone. I feel so sorry for any dog having to wear one of those, I hope he continues to make good progress.
