worming and weight of dog
« on: February 20, 2009, 06:54:35 AM »
At the end of Dec when we took Saffy to the vet for one of the first times, he dispensed 5 Milbemax tabs for dogs 0.5-5 kg, one tablet to be taken each month.

The thing is, she still has 3 of these tabs to be taken over the next 3 months, however at her last vet visit she was weighed as 5.8kg (and she will now be a bit over 6kg)

This means that the remaining 3 tablets will not be the right ones for the weight that she now is.  Should we just give her the remaining tablets despite this, or should we contact the vet to (try) to get them swapped for ones for dogs who are in the weight band above the ones we've been given?

Ask the vet to swap them as there will be insufficient active ingredient to worm her properly.  I take it Saffy is a growing pup?

Really! some vets just don't see beyond the end of the day!  :005:

You can either use 2 of the small ones to worm her this month or ask the vet to swap them for the large dog one. Not sure what the most cost-effective way of doing it will be as the larger size are more expensive.
