Raw Bones - Weight Bearing, ok to give?
« on: October 04, 2009, 10:30:15 AM »
I bought a big pack of bones for the dogs from the butchers.  I gave them some ribs last week and froze the rest.

I have just unfrozen some of the remaining ones and they are knuckle bones.  Are these ok to give or did I read somewhere that weight bearing bones shouldn't be given?

Thanks

those I would say would be considered 'recreational bones' ie ones to gnaw on but not consume.

You can give them but if they're beef they're very hard so watch them while they're having a chew  ;)

Thanks Helen.  Didn't want to disappoint them as Woofie can spot a bone wrapped in a million bags!

I don't think they are big enough to be beef bones but will take them off them once they have had a good gnaw!
