Dilemma? Pebbles has gone to the bridge.
« on: January 31, 2011, 07:54:19 AM »
Only a month a go Pebbles had an op to remove a plum size wart from her ear  :'( unfortunately it's back with a vengeance  >:D my dilemma is this, do I have it removed again? or do I leave it alone?  it's now making it so that I can't get her meds into her ear as it is blocking up her ear canal  :'( infection is building up behind it and it's started to smell a wee bit. I'm dammed if I will lose my baby to an ear infection, I'am beside myself with worry  :'( as I don't know what to do for the best? I'am going to ring the vets later on to see what they say. Pebbles has a good strong heart for her age, do you think she will be able to stand another GA so soon after the other? What to do ? x x x

By the sounds of it, you are going to have to have this wart removed  >:D
Is there anything the vet can do to prevent reoccurance at the same site, if she was mine I'd be asking the vet if it was possible to do something more 'radical' to eliminate warts in this area - is it possible to have an op similar to a 'scrape and skin graft'  or some other approach to preventing the wart regrowing??

:bigarmhug: hope the vet can offer a solution of treatment to stop the regrowths so she doesn't have infections

It there is a build up of infection behind it, you really don't have much of a choice I'm afraid.

You really need to sit down with your vet and talk through all options, perhaps ask for a specialist opinion if possible.

Did you see"embarrassing bodies" this week? I did by mistake !! :o
A young man had lots of warts on his hands, they were removed by "lazer".   He was told that they would come back  :shades: :shades:
In the past I have known people to be told " they will go on their own" but of course if there is an infection you can't just wait.

We recently had to put Pickle through 2 surgeries - and hence 2 anaesthetics - and our vet reassured me that veterinary anaesthesia has improved a lot in the last few years so there is almost no residual impact and it is just as safe to do the 2nd operation as the first. - Hope this helps!

Having personally just a had a long spell of recurrent earache I can strongly sympathise with Pebbles - it's the most miserable pain in the world!

Hope they get her fixed up soon :luv:

Sounds so very uncomfortable...not the easiest area to medicate is it!

I think with the fact that infection is forming behind it, it's very probable you have no choice......poor little sausage :luv:

Thanks for all your kind words and support. Spoke to the vet yesterday and he will operate on thursday. But because this so called wart has grown back so quickly and so aggressively now they think it might be something more sinister (a cancer)  :'( :'( . He can't operate before because he has to get in touch with a specialist about removing it because of where it is. As you can imagine I'am now beside myself trying not to cry so that Pebbles doesn't pick up on it. I wish now that when we first had it removed that we had sent it away to see what it was  :'( but sometimes they say ignorance is bliss? Will update later in the week when I know what is happening.

Thanks again  Dianne and Pebbles x x x
