Aww poor little man. Not at all comfortable for him and worrying for you.
I hope it goes well tomorrow and they are able to identify the problem and sort it.

Thinking of you both today, sending positive thoughts and hoping that the vet can sort Jerry out so that he is pain-free and above all, well  :luv:

Thank you sooooo much everyone  :luv:  It was hard leaving him this morning but not as hard as sitting here waiting for the phone to ring! There were four other dogs in the kennels that had been dropped off for various proceedures and/or testing - 1 springer and 3 cockers!! Even the v/nurse who checked us in commented on it being a spaniel day.

Will update when I hear anything

Hi everyone, have got my boy home - albeit with a shaved tum. He's had an ultra sound and bloods and he prostate is very enlarged. Although his can happen for other reasons our vet is pretty confident that in Jerry's case it is been caused my an abscess. He is on some strong antibiotics and two different types of pain killers. I have got to phone the vet tomorrow morning and let her know whether he is opening his bowels normally with the help of the pain killers (he is holding it at the mo because its so painful) if not he will have to take some laxitives aswell. Either way he is going back on Monday for her to examin him again. She will assess how well the antibiotics are working. If there is no improvement he will have an operation to take cells from the prostate so she can tell exactly the infection she is trying to treat. Once she is confident that he is well and we have seen the abscess off he will be taken in for castration. Not something that is going to get better over night, but I do feel a bit better that we know whats going on now.
