Advice please
I will have to make an appointment to take Honey to the vets tomorrow as
my poor girl has just started to weeing everywhere I thought she was off colour
when she started doing it 3 days ago, but it has got worse she just stops and wees
it's as if she can't hold it. She is such a clean dog and I know there must be something
wrong for her do this. She was 10 years old last Nov.
Have any of you had this with your babes ?. Any advice / help you can give me please,
so that I am armed with as much info as to what the cause might be.
she does have a lots of fatty lumps, big ones under her tummy and yes she is heavier
than she should be.

Ben (12) has drastically increased the frequency he wees now and like Honey he can't seem to hold it and when he needs to go it's immediate! It started quite quickly as well about a year ago he suddenly increased over a few days or so and never went away. We have had lots of puddles indoors, and I have posted about the problems we have at night in the oldies bit.
When it first started I took him to the vet incase it was a urine infection, but all came back clear and she said it was his age and some dogs struggle to control their bladder more than others.
Is Honey weeing normally or is it just a dribble (if that's not to personal a question :005:)?
My vet said to watch for Ben just dribbling, that's more likely to be an infection, but if it's a normal wee not to worry too much.
Hopefully your vet will be able to sort it all out, but if it's age related it is manageable, we just send Ben out every half hour or so whether he asks or not and generally it's ok.

William started to pee more frequently about a year or so ago when he was 10, but in his case it was due to a UTI and traces of crystals. A course of antibiotics sorted him out.
If you can collect a pee sample from Honey and take it with you tomorrow the vet will do a dipstick test there and then, which may be enough to diagnose the problem.
Hopefully it's just a UTI or cystitis and can be resolved quickly :blink:

she is supose to have her yearly jabs (vets sent reminder) this week but
think I may not let her have them done until this wee :005: problem is sorted out
what do you think?

get your sample but also take notice, is it urine or more like water. also is it strong or no has smell and is she drinking more. is it a puddle or a lake and frequency Only mention because we had similar with our staffie and these questions are what we were asked

My initial thought is a UTI, and others have given really useful advice. Bertie needed to go more often and more urgently as he aged, so may be a combination of things. Hugs for you and for Honey. Positive thoughts. xx

Personally I wouldn't have a dog vaccinated if it was under the weather. Honey may be needing the full power of her immune system to fight off the cause of the peeing, and if some of that is diverted to coping with vaccinations her health may be compromised.

Sounds like an infection so good luck getting it sorted.
But absolutely agree about vaccination. No way. To be honest at this age I'd never have her vaccinated again. Do read up everything there is before you decide... A lot of countries only recommend once every 3 years now. Ask your vet for a test of the blood immunity first.

Vets won't give boosters if your dog is on anti biotics or ill. Jinleys were due in November but her vet said to wait until mid Jan for her jabs

Hi all,
Well managed to see our vet this morning and it seems as Honey does have an infection
and there was blood in her pee sample this morning and she smells very
much of wee, it seems also she has swollen sides around her vulva and has made
this very sore with her licking, at the present time we have be given
a scrub solution to clean the area once a day... then put on Isaderm Cream
twice a day ...Meloxidyl painkiller once a day...and antibiotics
twice a day. he is hoping that this will clear up the problem, but
he still not sure what has triggered it. It could be a number of things.
bladder, kidneys. if she is not better in two weeks we will need to
have some blood test and x rays done.to see what is happening in her bladder.
Just keeping my fingers crossed that it's only a water infection.

I'm sure a Honey will start to feel better soon, that's quite a long list of meds from the Vet.
Bea when through a time of infection after infection, the Vet explained that every time she went a wee it was an opportunity for more infection >:(
One Vet said that due to her medical history she might always be on Antibiotics to clear up a UTI >:(
Not happy with that I had her urine tested to see exactly what bacteria it was and then another course of Antibiotics, this time I used these

Well Honey had a good night and so far not had any wees in the house,
she is a darling :luv: at taking all her meds and having her bum washed and creamed.
she doesn't look quite so sore there as well so hoping we may have caught
it early and it's not anything serious.
everything crossed.

Hope everything's all cleared up now - utis can be a pain to clear up sometimes and take longer than expected

So far so good Honey seems to be responding to her meds and
now back to normal with her weeing, so hopfully by next Wed's vet visit
she will get the all clear. she says thank you for your wishes and

Glad Honey is better, are you taking another sample into the Vets ,that way they can make sure she is completely clear ?
