:bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: poor Minstrel. I hope things improve for you both soon. I know rice is good when they are poorly because it contains lots of moisture and helps to keep them from getting dehydrated. I have sometimes just given small meals of rice soaked in chicken stock - like a chicken and rice soup!
However, since Archie has been wet fed, I always keep one of these in the cupboard.

It is fish and potato and is very bland. It settles his tum really brilliantly. In fact. Yesterday evening I had a very poorly pooch. He was clearly in discomfort and was sick three times in the evening and overnight, this morning I gave him a small amount of this food to see if it stayed down, which it did. He slept until lunch and then was absolutely fine. He had it again for supper too with no ill effects. It is useful to have in.

Ahh thanks, I know Archie is much the same as Minstrel in his dietery requirements (he has Naturediet), so I will deffo have a look at that.

At the moment I am buying fish and cooking it, then adding a few drops of the fishy water over his meal of either rice or spud with the fish. But this looks a good idea for emergencies.

So sorry to hear that Minstrel is feeling unwell.
When Tilly had a really upset tummy pro kolin didn't work in the end so I went to my local pet shop and they recommended this... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Firm-UM-Hardens-Stools-Puppies-Tablets/dp/B004433H5E.....with in 24 hours Tilly's stools where back on track. I showed these to my vet and he was very happy with the list of ingredients. I think you can buy them from pets at home.

I give poorly dogs or pups mashed potato and white fish/chicken (you'll find that some dry dog food preparations consist of potato as well)

Also, a good standby is tinned chappie

Re: Mashed Potato - updated

A Minstrel update:  well so far so good today, had a wet poo about 7.45am and I decided to bite the bullet and gave him scrambled egg or fish with potato instead of rice and no poos since early morning, not sure if it coincidence or not - but happy for him either way. I expect by now the prokolin is kicking in too.

He seems more bouncy in his step this evening and playful - so keeping my fingers x'd we have turned a corner  :D

Have to collect a final specimen tomorrow morning, then it is off to the vets - will keep you posted on outcome

I so glad Minstrel is feeling better. I found with Tilly that rice didn't agree with her and she was much better on sweet potato and chicken/fish.
