Morning lovelies.
I'm Natalie, a new puppy mum and new member :)
We live in Northamptonshire (myself, husband and 9yr old son) and picked up our first dog on Friday, a 10 week old show type who my son has named Rupert [emoji7]
So we've had three days with him and he's melted our hearts already[emoji177]
We've wanted a dog for a while but wanted to wait until our son was a bit older so he could properly get involved with training etc.
The right time came when we looked after a friends labrador for the day. Josh treated him like a brother and it was heart wrenching to watch him go home at the end of the day. He walked him, played with him, fed him, and as he's an only child we realised then that a dog would be great for him now.
I grew up with dogs as my parents were reg'd breeders of Shetland sheepdogs, but it's been 20 years since having a dog and I realise now just how much I've missed out on.
Anyway, here's Rupert. He's such fun to have around. He's using puppy pads at the back door at the moment as he wasn't happy going out in the rain LOL, and he's sleeping in his crate in the bedroom. First night I was up every 2 hrs to take him downstairs for a pee, next day up at 2am and 5am and last night he didnt get up for a wee at all!! He went down for a pee at 5:30 when my husband left for work then came back to the crate for an hour or so.
I have a really stressful job in Law and i spend my weekend stressing about work, but Rupert has taken my mind off it completely and I've had a lovely weekend :)
Anyway, time for obligatory photos...

Oh wow, brought a little tear to my eye! Your son and Rupert are going to have an amazing bond. He looks like my little Pip ❤️

Welcome to the forum. No finer stress-buster than a cocker!

Thanks I've never known anything like it. Are all cockers extremely fussy and love cuddles!? He loves lying on his back having his belly rubbed :)

Hello and welcome aboard the spaniel roller coaster for the best ride ever. Rupert is gorgeous . I yet have to meet THE spaniel that does not like or give cuddles. They do not wait for us hoomans to get into cuddle mode, they just jump in and take the initiative
Just love them all :luv:
Just a word of warning, socks , your family will never own a matching pair again :005:

Ha +1 on the socks 👍
Can I add underwear and T towels to that 😁
For some reason eze doesn't bother too much with my cheapo George (ir whatever) briefs she seems to gravitate towards my expensive Boss or Armani ones 😞

And handkerchiefs. They will all have cocker jaw shaped perforations!

Hi and welcome to COL
Rupert is sooo bootiful. That's taken me back seven years to our Milly arriving with us :luv:
Funnily enough she didn't terrorise the socks much but Dot's bras were regularly taken for a gallop around the house :005:

Hi Natalie,
I'm a new member as of today. Trying to find balanced and helpful advice as we weigh up whether to get a cocker too...
I have to say your pictures aren't helping.
Both Rupert and Son are adorable.

Tee hee thanks.
I never knew what I was missing by not having a dog. It's hard work BUT totally worth it :)

Rupert is just gorgeous. He is going to be a wonderful mate for your son. Cockers are such loving dogs you will soon wonder how you ever lived without one.
