Title: Help with spayed coat
Post by: Amethyst on July 31, 2017, 06:10:36 PM
Hi I had my red cocker spaniel spayed 6 months ago. She is a fine coated show cocker 4yr old. The coat is going woolly am I right using a coat king just down her back, would anyone suggest the wide fine one. I really don't want to clip her, what about the sides (feathering) & fronts of legs. Would a very short blade and a comb be useful. I don't mind scissoring, I have good thinning scissors.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I used the 22 blade one.  And just thinned front and side feathering with thinning scissors.  Never needed to clip my spayed girl, just had to groom her every 2 weeks and make sure she didn't get too matted (as the fluffier coat does that).

Hi I
use a combination of coat kings 12 & 22 the 12 which the teeth are wider spaced is good if the area is quite thick & 22 when you have got on top of the thicker areas.

The 12 is good down the outside of back legs, also use a fine comb as well along with thinning scissors
