Title: Anyone with experience of ruptured salivary gland ?
Post by: rubybella on August 27, 2017, 04:23:26 PM
Hi.

My 5 year wcs was diagnosed with a damaged salivary gland yesterday after taking her to the vets due to excessive drooling, difficulty eating and drinking, and generally feeling rubbish. Vet examined her and she had high temp, plus swelling under tongue and small swellings in throat.
We are now waiting for a call from AHT in Newmarket for a referral for CT scan and surgery to remove salivary gland this week, estimated cost £3-4000, luckily we have insurance!!

It isn't that common but wondered if anyone had any experience of it ?

Many thanks

Sorry, have never heard of the condition but do hope it can be sorted and that she's feeling better soon. Did the vet have any idea how it has become damaged?
Sending  :bigarmhug: for a speedy recovery!

No idea how it happened, but can be caused by trauma to the gland, however I am not aware of this happening.  Poor girl is feeling pretty rubbish and we have to wait another week for referral consultation !
