I just had the best possible start to the New Year as Caoimhe just won the Utility Gundog Society novice field trial in Essex   :cool4: :cool4: To say I'm over the moon would be the understatement of the century!! According to Simon she ran superbly well, there was a run-off for first place between her and a 4 year old bitch run by Robin Laud and she got it and not only that she was Guns' Choice too :shades: :D and she has also just gained her stud book number. There were a lot of good quality dogs and top handlers there today, from Simon to Robin Laud to Ian Openshaw so the girl has done very, very good :D I'm not sure what we'll do for the rest of this season now but she'll be running at Open level next season, she only turns 2 years old next week so she has done so well.
She's had a bit of bad luck so far this season and my nerves have been stretched to breaking point at times :lol2: We've known it was just a matter of time before she won though, Simon wouldn't be running her otherwise. She ran really well in her first trial, her second was called off due to lack of game, her third she should have won but she was unlucky at the last minute and the last 2 she'd got a place in were cancelled due to the weather. I was keeping everything crossed that today would go ahead and I am so happy, so proud of her and so grateful to Simon who is an amazing trainer and handler.
I don't have any photos from today but I took these when I went up to see her training a few weeks ago, she's a little superstar and I absolutely adore her :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:

Emma xxxx
P.s. what does it 'mean' that she has earned her stud book number? i know that when show dogs gain it they are qualified for Crufts for life, so what will it mean for Caoimhe? Sorry to be so numb :embarassed:

Nothing dumb about that question Emma, was wondering the same thing myself ;) So... what does it mean? :)

Well Done Nicola, You have come so far and an inspiration to us all ...... Only a matter of time before we see Ftw or Ftch on caoimhe's pedigree, well done ;)

Thanks everyone, she's such an exceptional, amazing little dog. She's always been a joy to work with and Simon thinks very highly of her too :luv:

Is it ever, if I'd known what it would take I might never have taken her to be assessed in the first place :lol2: I am incredibly proud of her, she's very special :D

Well she's now qualified for the Gamekeeper's Ring at Crufts for life I think :lol2: Basically it means that she'll now be listed in the KC Stud Book that's published every year and it's a nice honour to have.

Here's hoping ;) Next season though, she's going to be getting a very well deserved rest now, she's worked so hard this season and she deserves a break!
IMO Guns Choice is a wonderful thing to win too, a sign of respect for the dogs talents from the Guns! ;)

Absolutely, that was the icing on the cake, I was really chuffed that she got GC as well, it's a real honour imo :D There were a lot of good dogs there today too, I think there were 10 awards given which gives an idea of the quality that she won over.
Her first run she hunted like a demon, flushed a cock bird, stopped dead, marked it perfectly and ran out and brought it back in one cast. Hunted on and she flushed again in some long white grass, bird was shot into white grass out of sight, Simon cast her off and the dog on the left started to run in, it's handler was yelling at it to get back but it ignored her, as it went to run into the white grass Caoimhe came running out of it with the bird :shades: Second run she hunted through heavy bramble cover, there was no game but she hunted it well. Hunted on into woodland she flushed a cock bird out of nowhere, it flew out and was shot over heavy plough, again she went out and picked it straight away in one cast and straight back. They called a run off between her and the other bitch but (according to Simon) Caoimhe just shone, she flushed and stopped for a pair of pigeons and a partridge that the other dog didn't even see and they called it in her favour before long.

.......can understand your pride - enjoy every moment......it's so well deserved :bigarmhug:
(have read through but apologies if this has already been asked ph34r )
Will you ever compete with her yourself or is something that has to be left to Simon to do?

I will eventually Lindsey, but for now I want her to win :lol2: Once we've really seen how far she can go next season my plan is to then gain some experience with her myself. I need trialling experience but Caoimhe is too good for me to have used for that.
-
What a little Star :clapdance: a beautiful one too ;)
No wonder you are proud of her Nicola :D and this is only the beginning ;)
Jann, Flo and Barnaby :luv:

Thanks again everyone, I'm still over the moon :005:
You must be so proud. :luv:

No I don't but I'll try to get something. I'm bringing her home next week as she's now done all she has to do for this season, which is nearly over anyway, but I'll see if I can borrow a video camera from work and get a quick run on film.
-
Congratulations, what a fantastic result. Were you there to see her run?
-
 You know how pleased I am for you and Caoimhe hun. Like you said, it was just a matter of time and she has shone through, and this is only the beginning, whoooooooo :cool4:
Huge congratulations to you, Caoimhe and Simon :clapping: :bigarmhug:
-
Congratulations, what a fantastic result. Were you there to see her run?
No, I couldn't make it as I'd only just gone back to work after Christmas on Tuesday. All her trials have been on weekdays and they're all over the place so it's hard to get to them if you work full time, it's yet another reason why Simon is better placed to run her than I am!
-
Fantastic result, congrats and enjoy those cuddles when she gets home...
-
Congratulations. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
-
Already posted my congrats on Facebook, Fantastic, you must be so proud, I cannot imagine what I would feel like.
