 Bailey has on occasion started to howl in his sleep.  When it first happened it gave me a real fright!! He seem to be asleep when he does it and it won't last long.  Is it common?  Does your dog do it?  Slightly puzzled.  Nothing to worry about - I hope?

Fletch does it as well now and then - and it is very weird .

He will suddenly start howling, sit up and continue howling - still fast asleep  :o

If it is that howling like a wolf type howl then both mine do it.  I always thought it was when they were dreaming :o
