Good idea in theory if you limited it to information & advice about the condition but you would have to tread very carefully regarding publishing of details concerning pedigrees etc & would probably need to get legal advice before doing so. Some Cocker websites already contain names & pedigrees of dogs affected with hereditary conditions but only where the details are already in the public domain eg via published hip scores, eye test results, FN cases under the Cocker Club control scheme etc.

Thanks for that Jane. I hadn't thought about the legal side of it at all. I just want people to be aware that it does happen to cockers and until there is a broader range of breeders prepared to hip score their dogs then no one can know how much of a problem it really is.

I've seen my own dog suffer and I'd love to be able to prevent others from going through the same.

I appreciate your help.

T and M

it's completely different reading posts like these when you have met the dog and the owners.

I agree, when you've met those involved, it is different.
Hope it all works well.
Me too.  It somehow makes it more "real".  Not that the ones we haven't met aren't real, but you know what I mean?

OH MY GOD

Lets have a pool party, that would be really cool.

Barkley has never been swimming properly but i am sure he would love it.

Will keep checking to see whats happening.

If the pool thing can't happen then maybe we could meet up again for a pre Christmas walk??

I haven't logged on for a while as I've been busy but I am so sorry to hear about Charlie Spud and his HD.
Wish him well and hope that Frisbee will not have the same problem.

Any more news on Charlie-Spud?  I expect he's been too busy swimming to give us an update on his progress  :D .  When you've got a minute, C-S, we'd all love an update  ;)
