Meet Ernie, a beautiful black and white Cocker Spaniel.
Ernie is a sensitive chap but he has a lust for life. Ideally we are looking for a working home for Ernie; he has bags of energy and his nose is always to the ground sniffing out all the best smells. However, he could live in a domestic environment if his owners will channel his enthusiasm into something stimulating such as agility or tracking. He can be worried of new situations and people for this reason his new owners will need to be hands off with him to begin with and will need to give him time and space to settle within a new home, he may however choose not to interact with you.
Ernie could live with older children that will give him time and space to settle and adjust in a new home but could not live with a cat due to the behaviour we have seen during his assessment. Ernie is more interested in the outdoors than other dogs so would rather not interact with them. Ernie lacks experience and confidence with other dogs so we would not recommend that he lives in the home with one.
If you are after an active dog that will become a loyal companion in time, please enquire about Ernie today.

We'd love for you to come and see us. Visitors are welcome to walk around the equine walkway, cattery and small animal section. However, we operate restricted viewing of the dogs to minimise their stress levels.

PLEASE NOTE:
We may have a few dogs onsite with kennel cough. Therefore owners of existing dogs wishing to adopt another dog are advised to contact the small animal department and speak to a member of staff who can advise on our procedures before visiting to see individual dogs.

Written permission is required from tenants of rented property's wishing to adopt a dog, this must be produced within 3 days of reserving an animal.
Adopting

Adopting an animal can be a really great and rewarding way of finding your new pet. Our animals have a lot to give to a new owner and they all deserve a warm and loving home. All the animals that come to The Blue Cross are given a full MOT before they are put up for adoption. They are:

    vaccinated, microchipped wormed and neutered
examined by a vet and treated as required
assessed by an experienced member of our team to determine what type of training and education they need
given an individual training plan depending on their needs
given an individual profile to help match them with their new owner
