Diatomaceous Earth. does anyone use it?
« on: November 18, 2012, 11:28:10 PM »
Does anyone use Diatomaceous Earth as a parasite killer or wormer. I don'tfeel happy using frontline etc. especially as a prevention and saw this in an article on raw feeding and worms.  :-\

I've heard of it - its meant to be a very effective way of dealing with fleas - (usually its used on chickens to deal with mites) and works by suffocating insects).  Our local chicken breeder sells it for about £5 for 500g.  Didn't realise that it could also be used for worms.

Have actually considered using it, but it does sound a bit messy having to dust the dogs with it.

I use it in the chicken coop :D
Not sure about using it for the dogs, but certainly can't do any harm, as long as you use the food grade Diatom powder :D
