Oh Jarv, I hope that poorly paw is better soon.

We tend walk in different places at grass seed season - we have open heathland where cows graze freely and that seems to get rid of much of the tall grass.  The downside is that the cows don't like thistles so the dogs get that stuck in their coats, but it is the lesser of two evils.

Last year when I was grooming Lexi I found a grass seed sticking into her belly.  It didn't bother her until I tried to pull it out - thankfully it was only in about half a centimetre.

well....I packed Jarv off to work with his dad this morning and dosed him with silica before he left.  OH kept an eye on it through the day and wiped off any yuk (of which there was a fair bit :020:)

At around 4pm he was giving it a wipe and saw something appear.....and gave it a gentle pull....and this is what it was...

not a massive seed but it's nasty enough  >:( it must have burrowed right up through his paw and out the top of his foot :fear2:

I can't tell you how delighted I am, the swelling and pus has almost gone and I think we've got it sorted :clapping:

I still don't understand how it works   :lol2: but £5.10 as opposed to a weekend vet's visit is fine with me  ph34r

My friend who advised is getting me a kit for £38.99 that has the most general remedies that humans and dogs would need.  Who knows, I may become fully converted  :shades:

Glad it's out. I have no idea how such a tiny tablet works but I now have my little stash of Silicia, Rhus Tox, Arnica, Thuja and other bits and pieces as they do seem to do good.  My boss is really into the whole Aromatics/homeopathy/bach flower remedies and I'm still learning just what they can all do.

Ewww  glad that is out! Your post prompted my to check Lillie and Teva's  paws today.  Lillie was fine, but Teva had a few grass seeds, the same as your pictures, between nearly every toe, with about 4 seeds very stuck in >:( Thank you ;)

Oh poor Jarvis.  Only just seen this thread, but so happy that the nasty thing is finally out.

Always learn so much from your threads Helen.  I knew nothing about the dangers of grass seeds.

Hope your paw gets better soon Jarvis. xxxxx
