Cuddle your cocker
« on: May 11, 2007, 10:02:00 AM »
Hi,

Can I just say how special our dogs are to us and you should all go and give your dog a cuddle right now and let them know how much they mean to you, especially since we can't predict the future.

I came home from work yesterday to find Tara had died, she was 11 but was fine in the morning when I left her, it looks like she had died in her sleep.  I'm just glad she went peacefully (hopefully) and that in the morning I had spent some time with her on her own to give her a cuddle, which I don't normally get time to do in the morning.

I'm in massive shock and my eyes won't stop leaking  :'( I've come into work to try and take my mind off it, but its not working.

My other dogs were in the kitchen with her all day.  Does anyone know how this affects them - do they realise what has happened?  Will it affect them and is there anything I can do to make them feel better.

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, my brain isn't working properly.  So mods feel free to move it.

I am so sorry to hear about poor Tara - what a terrible shock for you.

I'm sorry I cannot add any advice regarding how it affects other dogs but I am sure someone with experience will give you some good advice.

Once again, I am sooooo sorry  :'(  :'(  :'(

That's terrible. I'm sure she didn't suffer and it sounds as though she didn;t know what was happening so that may be of some comfort.
I hope your other dogs settle quickly. I don't know how much this can affect them I'm afraid.
Thinking of you. x

So sorry to hear about Tara - what a terrible shock for you  :'( :'(

I have no experience but I would guess that your other dogs will be ok having been in the room with her - they may pine for her as you would expect - but I dont think being near the body will have harmed them - it never did if it happened to the farm animals.

Take care of yourself

Not sure exactly how it will affect your other dogs, but having been there with her, I do believe that they will understand what has happened.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, but take comfort that she went peacefully, her friends were with her, and you had that last cuddle.  I have experience of this situation with horses and its actually better for them to see that their friend has died, that way they know what has happened and aren't waiting for them to return.  Will be thinking of you x.
