I went in my local Pets at Home the other day and they definately had these sporn harnesses in.  I think the medium was £9.99, I have ordered mine from Company of Animals a week ago and now waiting for it to arrive.

The collar one is the old style the other one is the newer version. I have the newer one, and prefer that style as he can have leave his collar on with no faffing. Easy to get on and off. :D

I googled for this last night and one of the first hits was a pet shop of which the name seemed familiar. It took a little while to dawn on me that it was one of my local pet shops ::). It was £8.99 and I went and got one, no point paying for P&P especially with the darn post strike. I will give it a whirl this afternoon and report back.

With the confusion in mind it is the one without the front clips but with the mesh front. It has 'the company of animals' and 'sporn' logos on the packaging. I think some of the confusion over here in the UK is that 'the company of animals' is the distributor for 'Sporn' the American designers (obviously made in China as with everything else!) The one with the clips 'appears' to be distributed over here by 'pet brands' and referred to the 'easy walk training harness' (named 'Sporn Training Halter' in the US) and modelled by a dalamation.

They are both available under their respective distributor names.

I'm confused as to which of these harnesses we are discussing and which is the better one. Also about the effect on the coat under the arm pits in partic.

Josh is keen to walk both boys at the same time on his own. He wants me to get a lead splitter so he only has one lead - but I'm concerned if they see a squirrel or a cat, as they often do that together ,they might be too much. I'd struggle to hold them! So I thought a splitter and these harnesses might do the trick. So is it the one with the two straps on the chest or the one with one wide strap up the centre of the chest?

Hi Pam

Lottie's harness doesn't seem to affect her coat and she is in full coat though I do take it off straight away to check for grass seeds etc.  There is a 4inch square mesh pad at the front of the harness (chest) that secures all the straps and probably takes most of the pressure.  The leg straps are covered in fleece so don't seem to bother Lotties armpits.  The Viovet website which sells the Company of Animals version still seems to be a good price.

Hope this helps

So if I was to get for Kali, would she need a medium at 10.5kg weight?

According to the back of the pack it goes by neck circumference rather than weight.

Small: 9-12" / 22-30cm
Medium: 12-17" / 30-43cm
Large: 16-24" / 43-60cm

Anyway I took Lucy for a walk this afternoon and she was pretty good, much better than usual. Obviously its only one try so far. It looked more comfortable for her than other things we have tried and an armpit inspection showed no matting or knots. The only draw back from the head collar is she has gone back to sniffing constantly and eating everything possible.

I got one of these for Archie a few months ago.  I thought it was great, but he still pulls on it, it just doesn't hurt my shoulder as much.  As for the matts, if I am only walking him for about 20 - 30 minutes, fine, but much longer than that and he comes home with armpit matts, the fleece and his puppy coat under there don't help.  I am hoping that when he gets his adult coat underneath it will be better.
They are very good though and I am ordering one each for my girls too.   :D

I did not think the strike ended till Wednesday.

Could not try it again today as it been raining and she had a waterproof coat on. The lead connection on the harness is quite a way down her back and so the opening in the coat for the lead is nowhere near it.
