you coped brilliantly, it is so terrifying isn't it, the same thing happened to Harry last year and I was petrified as his legs went and we were miles from anywhere.
I have started carrying piriton with me now on all walks just in case and a couple of months ago Harry got swarmed again, poor lad, Ben is always fine! I was able to shovel a whole piriton down him within minutes. but is was awful for a couple of hours when we got ho,me he just pacedthe floor crying and agitated, there was nothing we could do for him until the shock wore off. I also carry leather gloves now as the frist time we flicked the end of the lead to get them out of his coat, but that really has made him scared of the lead now, so this time we had gloves to get them out.
