thanks everyone, i think he knows i saved him, he's been very clingy and unsure but hopefully that will pass. Billy is back to normal and oblivious to why alfie is acting weird lol i'm going to be so paranoid of wasps on walks for a bit but going to take them for a nice strole soon so hopefully alfie will leave the house with us!
I'd like to know what you should do if it happens with no river too charlene, theres no way those wasps would've left him alone without me throwing him in the river, some were still attached after so no idea whats the best thing to do in that situation.

Oh how dreadful, pleased you are all overcoming the ordeal. Alfie is very lucky to have you as his mum. I'm not sure I would have coped as well.

I've just heard from a friend who was walking this morning with all her dogs and got swarmed.

Could it be the warm spell that has brought them out again

Goodness :( both my husband and I aren't a fan of wasps and the idea of combing them out of Merlin's coat makes me cringe let alone having to do what you did!  So glad that Alfie is doing okay - well done for your quick thinking. I'm with the others wanting to know what to do if no river close by. I assume chucking a bottle of water over them isn't going to cut it...

Oh well done you for thinking so quickly in spite of being terrified.

We had the same thing happen a few years ago when we were walking with Lily......................she was covered in them and her first reaction was to jump up into my husband's arms.  He flapped around getting them off her, and strangely didn't get stung once.  Lily however got stung twice in the mouth, and had to have lots of treatment for the swelling.  It was horrible.

I never ever feel I want to kill a bee if it gets into my path.......................but wasps (sorry), I have no remorse.  I hate them. >:D >:D

Hope poor little Alfie is doing ok after his horrible experience, and of course you and your mum too.   Cyber hugs winging their way to you all. xx

well done you :-* you coped brilliantly, it is so terrifying isn't it, the same thing happened to Harry last year and I was petrified as his legs went and we were miles from anywhere.

I have started carrying piriton with me now on all walks just in case and a couple of months ago Harry got swarmed again, poor lad, Ben is always fine! I was able to shovel a whole piriton down him within minutes. but is was awful for a couple of hours when we got ho,me he just pacedthe floor crying and agitated, there was nothing we could do for him until the shock wore off.  I also carry leather gloves now as the frist time we flicked the end of the lead to get them out of his coat, but that really has made him scared of the lead now, so this time we had gloves to get them out.

I am so glad you are all ok  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:
