Ant sand
« on: November 22, 2011, 10:22:36 AM »
Hi all ,
not sure if right place for it but would like to let everyone know my firend in Australia has her dog at the vets on a drip not moving at all occasional tail flick only not looking good. Reason a product like sand to get rid of bugs in the lawn not even sure if you have it but here is the information

RICHGRO lawn Beetle and Grub Killa (and dogs)
the active ingredient BIFENTHRIN is very toxic to dogs.(info from vet)

Also

MORTEIN Outdoor Ant Sand also has, as its active ingredient, Bifenthrin

She actually saw her dog eating the sand he was doing some gardining digging a hole then her other dog decided to join in so she went out filled the hole with dog poop thought end of story . Then many hours later found her dog not moving at all very scary.

Not good.  I hope your friend's dog survives.  Just shows how dangerous it can be to use products like this with pets around.  Thank you for alerting us.

Oh that's awful :016:
I'm going to have a look at
"Bitfenthrin" and see if I can
glean any info for Uk so thank-you.
I do hope your friends dog begins
to improve, how distressing for them!
will keep fingers/paws crossed.

Ok am back after quick look;
products containing Bifenthrin
were banned in Eu from 30/05/2010
so that's good but check any
products that are in the shed
etc as they may have been produced
before this date eg Roseclear

Yes heard yesterday Beau went  home, has to be kept quiet (border Collie Ha)  when her son got home he went over jumped up then stole his shoe. But was then asleep for hours after that burst of energy. Has got to go back for a liver test to check out, and her her words still picking up black poo (charcol) apparently he has had so much charcol its not funny, but is much better thanks for enquiry.

How is the dog doing now? I hope the dog is fine. :(
American Cocker Spaniel training is not a joke. You need to have patience, dedication, perseverance, and heart. Do you have them all???
