Healing thoughts needed for Sweep
« on: May 21, 2013, 10:16:05 AM »
As some of you know Sweep started his chemo last week to ward off lymphoma and it went well. However, yesterday he went for his blood test prior to next chemo session tomorrow and wasn't his usual self after going to the vets. Took himself off and laid huddled up giving a sharp cry when he turned. Spent the night on our bedroom floor - which we don't normally do - and was the same. Took him to the vet just now and he has a temperature. She gave him an antibiotic injection and is going to hurry the blood results along as if the blood white cell count is down we will have to delay the next chemo session. She did say sometimes they need to change the drug if it makes the count go down too much. DS has carried him back in the house and he's lying down, won't eat his favourite treats. Has done a wee and poo though. One worried mum here - thought we were doing too well! One step forwards and two back.

Really worried about him. He's been sick twice now and got diarrhoea. He can't get comfortable on the sofa. Hate seeing him like this. I'm starting to think maybe shouldn't have tried the chemo. Am I being cruel trying to keep him going? Supposed to be going to my mum's this weekend - haven't seen her since xmas due to my illness and surgery.

Big hugs... sorry to hear Sweep is so uncomfortable at the moment - and I guess its natural that you'll be wondering whether you're doing the right thing or not.  We all would I think.  But maybe as the vet said its a case of finding the right drug for him.  Why don't you give them a ring and ask how quickly you would expect to see some improvement in him after the injection this morning?
Gentle squidges for your lovely boy  :luv:
