oh gosh, danny, i'm so sorry to read about charlie!  :o  :'(  i'm joining everyone else in sending all my positive and healing thoughts and prayers in his direction.  :luv:

the only thing i can say, and this may offer no help whatsoever, is that we live near a busy duel carriageway and barkley and i have met at least a dozen dogs over the past year who, at some point in their lives, have been hit by fast moving cars, sustained awful sounding injuries, and yet have recovered. only this afternoon, we were walking with a jack russell who when he was three had every bone in his shoulder shattered and a damaged back and, apart from some mild arthritis and a slight limp, has gone on to be a very healthy 11 year old.

big hugs to you and your family. x

So sorry to hear about Charlie.  Hope all goes well with him.

I can appreciate how you must be feeling because I know how I'd feel if it happened to my Charley.

Best wishes from both of us.

So sorry to hear this Danny. You must be beside yourself. I agree that it's best to leave him to rest tonight but know how hard that will be for you. Your vets sound great. Thank goodness they are trying to save his leg. However I will tell you that my springer had a leg amputated and although she was kept in overnight, I paced the floor until I got her home. Once home her recovery was phenomenal.  Dogs don't have the baggage about being ill like humans do.

My nieces Staffie, Missie, did exactly the same as Charlie a couple of years ago, when she was away on honeymoon and Missie was staying with her in laws. She rushed out of a briefly open door straight on to the A12 and under a car. It went over her pelvis and it was shattered into umpteen pieces. I think both legs were broken too.  She too was two years old. The vet said it was only because of her fitness that she survived. She was in the vets for two weeks. She came home with more metal pins and plates in her than bone and because she had been shaved and stitched looked pretty bad. Today you wouldn't know anything had happened.

Thinking of you all and sending ((((hugs)))) and positive thoughts your way.

Don't really know what to say other than echo what everyone else has said.  Try and keep a positive outlook (easier said than done I know).   I'm thinking of you all and sending ((hugs)) - Melody sends gentle cocker kisses to Charlie  :luv: and we wish him a restful night and a speedy recovery  :-*
