Worried for Rufus
« on: October 10, 2011, 04:10:25 PM »
Rufus has been home now for 11 days and he is an absolute star-he's settled in really well and we adore him.

Sadly though he has been wobbling around on his back legs-I mentioned in an earlier post-struggling to get his back legs moving at times/struggling to get out his basket/ showing no reflex when the vet pushed his back paws down i.e. doesn't corret himself/ finds it hard to sit on his back legs etc.

So the vet took some x rays and blood tests last week and he has sent the x rays on to a specialist. We are waiting to see what they show, but we are now feeling so awful and anxious. He really has us smitten and we can't help but worry  (the vet questioned whether it is his central nervous system).

Just wondered if anyone has been through anything similar or can just offer any thoughts. Worrying myself silly at the moment.

Thanks
Anna  :016:

Thanks both. Just a really worrying time - he is otherwise such a healthy, happy puppy from a brilliant breeder.

Just hope it is puppy growth pains and nothing more serious-the vet mentioned a whole host of things that I am praying it isn't. Hopefully we'll know more soon.

Anna x

Oh bless him.  :luv:
I would guess if it was his central nervous system it would have show before now, like when he was still with the breeder.  Could it be a trauma of some sort ?

I do hope it is nothing that cannot be rectified or managed easily. Sending positive thoughts :bigarmhug:

So sorry to hear about Rufus, Anna. Being a curious devil, I just wondered whether you have discussed this with his breeder and asked if any other pups she has bred, especially Rufus's littermates have been afflicted in the same way, or similar? Just a thought. Hopefully the specialist will be able to throw some light on it anyhow and it won't be anything that can't be 'mended'! Positive thoughts coming your way. Keep your chin up - as best you can. x
