Just seen this, how awful and worrying for you :'(  How is he doing?
Both taken away from us far too soon. x  RIP Angels Odie & Archie, causing mayhem at the Rainbow, no doubt!

Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts and kindness.

We have had the first lot of x rays back and been recommended to see a neurologist as there are certain images they couldn't get as the spine is so well protected behind bone etc.

Rufus seems happy and well, but he finds it very hard still to use his back legs when getting out his basket. When he drinks from his water bowl, his back legs slide flat under him rather than keep him up. It is very clear they are not doing what they should be doing, regardless of age and growing bones, so I think seeing a specialist is the only answer at this point. We've eliminated a number of parasites through doing blood tests, but given his reflexes are so bad in his hind legs, it is more likely to be central nervpus system. He really only uses his back legs when he is on the go-sounds odd but most the time he flops down on them and uses his front ones.

It is very worrying but trying to keep positive that it will be something we can fix, rather than something debilitating.

Anna x

Thanks for the update, I keep checking to see if any news.  Oh dear, poor little chap.  It sounds best to see the neurologist and hopefully this will give you the answers.  In the meantime  :bigarmhug: to you all.  Please give little Rufus the biggest kiss he's ever had from me and Tobes.  Try to keep positive, I know it's hard, but it will help in the end.  We're all with you every step of the way  :luv:  :luv:

So sorry to hear it's not better news, but stay positive Anna, it's amazing what can be done these days and it may just need some manipulation, from someone who knows what they're doing, to put things right.

Load of love and positive thoughts being sent your way.  You know we're all rooting for you and Rufus xx

Am so sorry to hear about little Rufus' problem with his back legs. It's hard watching an older dog when they have problems with mobility but I really feel for you watching a youngster not having the power in his legs. I do hope the specialist will be able to suggest a line of treatment to solve the problem.

I'm so sorry you are having this problem with Rufus, what a worry for you all. I have an old CKCS who suffers from arthritis and has  mobility problems and that is bad enough to watch, but as Rufus is so young it's really sad. I hope that when you get to see the Specialist he will be able to give you some answers, and hopefully a treatment plan that will help him recover.

In the meantime lots of positive thoughts and  :bigarmhug: to you and Rufus.
