rio scared
« on: December 14, 2011, 12:42:24 PM »
My Rio seems very scared of traffic passing the house .He has never been bothered before it is only during daylight hours .It is as if it is the light bothering him. He spends lots of time just looking at a wall .I am starting to get worried about him.

Hi Mike :D
Looking at your post from October
was he starting to show odd signs
then?
Don't want to worry you but I personally
would be off to the vet and let
them check him over; you know your
own dog and if he's acting oddly then
get some advice if only to rule stuff out!

I'm not sure that makes
any difference; really what
I'm getting at is that any
change in behaviour without
obvious cause warrants further
investigation,you may not
find an answer but it should
stop you worrying ;)

I was thinking about your post
and wondered if it's the "sunlight"
on the windows of passing cars
flashing in winter light (it's more
low to the horizon)and is the looking
at the wall after he's been watching
traffic;is he seeing retinal flashes(like if
you looked at a bright light).
I think you need to watch and see if
there are any other symptoms to
describe.

Sorry i have not updated on Rio i took him to see vet before Christmas .The vet put him on anti depressants and it just made him dopey .He then put him on  this helped a bit but he was still very nervous . We looked on internet and read about D A P collers we bought one now 5 days later we can see a differance in Rio . I am so happy it seems we are getting my little mate back he is now full of life and into everything again .There is still someway to go with him but now we can see some light at end of tunnel

Wow that's great news really to fInd that this is helping Rio :D

We bought a plug in one for lottie after our litter was about five weeks old and getting mobile and loud as she was a bit stressed . It helped her and now she dosn't need it as it seemed to be the stress was short term .
