It was the same for us, Petals eye sight had been fading but she was coping as the sight went over a period of time, so made up for what she couldn't see out of her right eye with her left.  Tim did say the only problem he could foresee if we didn't have the op was that she would get infections, which could have ended up with her having to have the eye removed completely  :o

It was a lot of money to find, but I would do it again, just to see the change in her quality of life now, she's just so much more confident!

Good luck on the 27th, hope it's good news for you!

badger has cataracts in both eyes, started off in one - then the other, and gradually got worse.  He is 12 and 1/2 now and got these about 2 - 3 years ago, the vet said he was too old to operate on he wouldnt be able to cope with the operation, at that time he could still see so it wasnt a problem, and he was happy in his self.

He still is happy in his self but cant see, although I dont regret not having the op because I dont know what would have happened, I just took the vets advice that he wasnt strong enough to withstand the operation.

Aw bless Badger, I'm sure they all cope in their own way don't they just as humans do. Whatever happens with Chloe and her eyes she is still the best dog I've ever known and I'll be happy, I'm just concerned there is more than cataracts here with her  :-\ She's only a baby still and I want her to have the best life she can have at the end of the day, if it is just cataracts in one eye and she carries on as she is then we'll be fine but I'd rather know what the future might hold for us all  :-\ Roll on the 27th!

Thanks everyone for your kind posts, I'm sure they helped as she was a little star! She was so good at the vets and throughout the journey there and back!  :luv:

Well she has cataracts in both eyes, it has been confirmed!  :'( They're not going to operate on them yet but we'll be back in 3 months for a check up and then again in another 6 months so they can keep an eye on them. She's also got some tissue on her right eye which is from when she was developing IIRC which isn't a huge issue but obviously isn't helping her sight!  :-\ It can't be removed and there are two bits of it, poor thing! She's also got a very dry right eye which she will require cream for the rest of her life to treat!  ::)

I feel so sorry for her to have all these problems and still not even two years old yet! I know we'll all survive and cope but I just feel for her so much!  :'(

In total we were there for an hour and a half and the total came to £225!!!!  :o Thank doG for insurance but they don't deal direct with M&S so I have to wait for them to pay it back to me!  >:(

Thanks again everyone, it helps to have like minded doggy pals to share this with!  :luv:

Well at least Chloe is in the hands of a specialist Adele - I'm sure they will do the best possible for her.

She sounds a happy little poppet, even with these eye issues, and obviously has a very doting mum who will do everything she can for her  :luv: :luv:
