My sisters dog had a spleen removed , it was very enlarged and yes the dog  was weak etc etc, but with time and care she got through it and she went on to live to 16 yrs  of age.
(I cannot recall if it was cancerous, though I do remember her getting some kind of chemo tablets for a while, but no problems at all, her body adjusted and she was fine....)

Just amended original note not good  :'(

Just an update for those who showed a concern, Looks like we are losing Misty Moo after the operation on Monday she has not eaten and continues to weaken. More blood test at lunch time if her red cell count is still dropping then I think the time has come to make that decision we all dread. I hate this and feel so helpless. :'( :'( :'(

Oh my goodness, just read your update, that is not what I expected to see.  I am so very sorry that she is not responding.  What a dreadful time for you all  :'(
