Just a thought but could your vet pass you on to a specialist or refer you to the RCV?

Maybe if the x-rays show nothing you could ask them to?  To be blunt I'd rather my vet did that than continue treating with Metacam for something they don't have a clue about  :-\

Thanks for your replies. Woody is miles better today already. Still limping a little but putting weight on it when he's standing, like when eating, whereas before he was holding it up. Yes, that's what I thought to be honest. I don't want to just keep having Metacam if it keeps occurring. I think I'll see how he is after the 6 days of this and then if it happens again I will definitely be wanting more answers because there will be clearly something wrong.

Hi Maddy, Woody's leg is 90% better now thanks.  :D Just twitches it now again but not limping on it and hobbling anymore so that's good. He's on his tablets until next Mon so will have to see how he goes without them and when we go out for a short walk next week.

Ahh thanks Maddy. Yes it's much better now thank you. He's not limping at all but been out for no walks so I'm just hoping when his Metacam is finished later today and he's going out for short walks again that he doesn't start limping and is ok. Otherwise I want to know what it is as it'll be the 3rd time it's happened and I'm not just going to keep settling for Metacam. He's fine in himself though and bombing round the garden like a luni so it's hard to restrict him. Thanks for asking after him xx  :luv:

Well touch wood but Woody finished his Metacam yesterday and went on a short walk and didn't limp afterwards so will stick to short walks for a while then take it steadily from there. Fingers crossed the little man will be ok.

My poor little man is limping again =[

So I phoned the vet this afternoon and they said Woody will probably have to have an x-ray but there is no guarantee it will even show anything up he said.

He's given us one more dose of Metacam for 10 days and if the problem persists after that then he thinks the best option would be down the x-ray route.

The thing is, it could just be growing pains. It's switched between both his back legs and his front left leg now over the past few months.

He doesn't seem to be in any pain and doesn't react when I touch it or feel around but there is a definite hobble yet other times he runs round the garden like a lunatic.

I really don't know what the answer is and am not sure what to do for the best but it's upsetting me now as I hate to see him limping
