When we left out for this show it was sunnyish.!!!Got there, put dogs on trolley, walk with trolly about 1/2 mile up hill,to dog show.Get under small tent and enter.THEN THE HEAVENS OPEN,we wait for it to die down abit, then hear the judge will take another 1/2 hour to get here as the road is flooded and will take another route. It stops raining, great. The judge arrives, the first class is in the ring, judged,my class is in,AV OPEN,get in the ring with my perfectly groomed, clean, dry 'RUPERT',AND THE HEAVENS OPENED,not only that,we had LIGHTENING and THUNDER as well.We stand and watch the entrance of the field opposite as a deluge of water torrents down the road,by the time we have to 'stand our dogs' i have lost the will to live!!!But,YEEEE,we get called out 1st!!! The last class is judged(in the pedigree)an announcment is made saying the police have advised to cancel rest of show as all roads out of village are getting flooded. The winners of the 3 classesare called in.We strutt round again, then i hear the judge say the cocker is best in show.and a huge rossette, followed by an even huger trophy was placed into my wet hand, and we did our lap of honour,I was well pleased. It was worth the drenching. The uncanny thing was,i never had time to look at the trophy, but when i got home it was a memorial trophy of a very good friend of mine whom i knew because we both showed rabbits, she tragically got killed last year after her car skidded on some ice.How weird is that.!!!
