Is my puppy a show type or working type
« on: October 20, 2020, 06:17:21 PM »
We are first time puppy buyers and bought our little Nala on the 9th October, she is nine weeks and a few day’s (we think). However, we only saw mum at the viewing and all details surrounding dad have been very difficult to get hold of, we’ve been asking for pictures since the day of purchase but our messages get read and ignored. Mum was undoubtedly a show type but reading into “types” online - Nala has many features of a working cocker and so we suspect that dad might have been too. Her coat is extremely short, her ears seem to begin a little higher than most show types and her nose is quite pronounced for her age. We love her all the same but are intrigued to see what others think. I have attached some photos for your attention. Many thanks, Nala’s parents. https://ibb.co/ZcL6hWy https://ibb.co/SyYrHPn

Walk away, this has all the hallmarks of puppy farming. Please don’t buy.

The easiest difference to spot between a show and a worker is the head shape and ear placement. Although still hard to spot on a pup. Shows have a domed head and low ears. A wcs has a flat head with high set ears. Whatever you have is a bonus in your lives. Enjoy.
Run free and fly high my beautiful Gemma

Also, I’m not sure how to attach photos, please help haha! Many thanks, Nala’s parents.

You need to upload the photos to another website and link/integrate from there. I use Imgbb, free and easy to use :) I'd love to see your puppy, not sure I can help tell you what type she is, but puppy pics are always welcome!

Wow - Nala looks beautiful and I too love the name.  Her face looks show cocker to me - but then workers tend to not be as chunky as they grow ( they seem longer and skinnier) so maybe time will tell.  Whatever she may be I can say for certain that to me she looks a sweetheart and I wish you lots of joy with your new little bundle.

Glad you found us and any queries am sure we can help.

Welcome to you and Nala :luv:

Cocker kisses and cuddles just make my day!

You are always with me darlings Jaypup and my precious Oliver you are so missed

Thank you for all of your wonderful replies! Her head seems quite domed but her ears start pretty high and aren’t awfully big. Her coat is very fine and not at all full and fluffy like most show types at her age. But then again, she was the second smallest in the litter - with the bigger pups having quite a considerable size difference, so we wondered if being a runt had stunted her growth both body and hair. But as we say, we love her all the same regardless. Just interested to see what others think as she might well be a mix of the two - which is even more intriguing and I can’t wait to see how things change as she grows!
