Why would he do that?!

Last night Einstein (aged 10) did a poo on the sofa!

I had just let him out after tea and then we went to settle down on the sofa to watch corrie.  Then the smell came wafting over, I got up thinking he had done one, maybe in the hallway or close to the back door, however couldn't find one. Followed my nose back to the lounge and there it was a big steaming poop right next to where I had been sat, god knows how I hadn't see him doing it!

Normally if he wants to go out he will cry or get very animated, but there had been none of that!

He has done this once before, but it was a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know what would make him think this is OK behaviour? Or why he wouldn't do it on the floor?  Luckily we have a leather sofa so it was cleaned up real quick!

Mine have only ever done that if they have been under the weather and its all happened a bit quick!!

I wonder if maybe he had belly ache something like that.

If Ollie has had an accident he seems very upset with himself.

He didn't/doesn't seem ill and it was a nice firm one (luckily!). Who knows! Does anyone think it could be an attention seeking or dominance?  I have a feeling he wouldn't have done it if my husband was in the house.
