I am so very sorry for you Jools.  :'(  I have been in a very similar situation as you with another breed, and the guilt is sometimes unbearable. Trust me in time, you will begin to see much more clearly that this was your only option, for Millie, you and your family.

You are certainly not to blame in anyway for Millie's problems, you did your upmost to help her but some things are just beyond our control, you were very brave and you did the very best that you could do for Millie.

I think you are especially brave and I thank you for posting about your experiences. I know how nieve I was when looking for my first puppy and I am sure that this will help inform people and help them to avoid the heartbreak that you have endured.

jools, i am so sorry to read your sad news.you did your very best for millie and i think she was very lucky to have you.sometimes some dogs are past the point of no return and a loving owner will see it and let the dog go.i think you did the right thing, but my heart breaks for the anguish you must be feeling.i remember your original post and thinking that could so easily have been me with paddy.i too went to the first place advertising cockers.you did your very best for millie and one day when you meet her again, she will thank you for it.
run free millie.i know you are no longer afraid and you are waiting patiently for your lovely mum.

I am so so sorry Jools.

I, too believe you did the very best for poor Millie. She really was very fortunate to have you love her and care for her as you did.

That final difficult decision was just another act of love on your part.

Enjoy Bramble, and take comfort in the fact that we are all behind you.

I'm sorry to hear such sad news Jools. As everyone has already said we all know how hard you tried with Millie a lesser person would have given up long before you did. I understand the decision you made, more than you know.

Thank you all for taking the time to post such kind words.

Posting my message was really difficult and upsetting, but I am really glad I did it. Knowing that other people who love their dogs understand why we did what we did is really comforting.

Great idea to update my pinned msg with this sad update. People like me think they're rescuing puppy farmed dogs and that we can make up for the awful start they've had - and some of that is true. However, I don't think we realise the impact that puppy farming has on the temperament of it's churned out little dogs.

If reading what we've been through stops even one person from buying a pup from a puppy farm, I'll be happy.

With love from Julie, Bramble Poppy and Coco xxx

Just wanted to add how sorry I am to hear what a tough but brave decision you had to make, a completely selfless act which can never be easy.
My heart goes out to you, take care,
Michele
