Free disk space
« on: December 10, 2006, 08:27:00 PM »
Apart from getting C O L I don't know much about computers :005: ph34r.
Mine is telling me that I need to clear some space on C drive. Well I have tried Disk Cleanup, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have also uninstalled a couple of programs, but its still the same.
Any help would be appreciated. ;)

I've been getting the same message, couldn't delete anything as the majority of mine is pictures and videos of my dogs/pups.  So we went to PC world and bought an external hard drive 320GB for £89/  I didn't even have enough memory to do a defrag, thankfully now I've transferred some of my documents/pictures/videos over I have managed to free up around 60GB of my C Drive  :o

If you copy your photos to disc you can then delete them from your C drive....

I have 4 years worth of photos, think it would take a lot of discs and time to copy all of those  :005:

You can compress them first.

Like happy dog suggested, you could resize and compress them before saving them?  It's amazing how many pictures you can get onto a disc.  You could get a DVD writer for the PC?  That way you can burn to DVD which have lots of space!  Or a memory card?

When you have free'd up some space you will be able to run disc clean up and defrag which will improve the performance of your pc.

I really would suggest you save your photo's to disc as I lost quite a few once when my pc crashed  :'( Never again  ;)

Deepburner is fast and they have a free version to download. Once installed you can just click and drag anything you want to put onto disc  ;)

I've now saved them all to DVD (took 4 of them  :o) and to the new hard drive, I would really hate to lose any of my pictures.

I have Nero Ultra, will the Deepburner work along side?  I know sometimes two burning programs conflict with each other

Are you going into your Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs or just right clicking and hitting 'delete'? or won't it let you do either  :-\

Right Click on the Start bar, and then click on My Computer.

You will have a disk on the right side which says Local drive, Right click on that and go to properties.

That will tell you how much disk space is currently used, and how much spare, it may give you an idea of whethert he computer is wrong, or you have too much stuff.

Do you have a lot of Photos?

Or music downloads?

What size is your hard drive?   if you add the free space and used space it will give you your answer.
