Sky Broadband & Mailwasher
« on: October 31, 2007, 11:56:30 AM »
Does anyone else use this combination?

I swtiched over to Sky broadband yesterday and everything is working fine. I managed to alter the settings on Outlook Express for my emails, but I like to use Mailwasher first.
I tried entering the same settings as OE but it doesn't want to know  >:(

Help anyone please
Michele :003:

Is there not a wizard in Mailwasher that should automatically detect the settings for OE?

I tried the wizard Gilly and it said everything was ok, apart from to "turn off automatic checking in your email program" which I did but I'm still getting a box come up with "bad username or password", but if I click 'mail program' it opens up Outlook Express

Any other suggestions anyone PLEASE!

I had a similar problem with one of my email accounts on Mailwasher a while ago - I had to fiddle around with the security settings for incoming mail by changing the port number & also checking the box "this server requires a secure connection". You access this by clicking "Advanced Account Options" on the Incoming Mail part of your email account in Mailwasher Pro - I'd guess it's similar in the basic version of Mailwasher?

Here is a list of the FAQ for mailwasher:

5. Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click Next.

- Email Address: Enter your full Sky Email address (username@sky.com)
Server Information:

- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com
Login Information:

- Password: Enter your Sky Email password
7. Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
8. Check the box next to My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication and select Use Same Settings As My Incoming Mail Server.
9. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3).
10. Check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
11. Click OK.
12. Click Test Account Settings... After receiving 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully', and click Close.
13. Click Next, and then click Finish.

* Did you click Save Changes after enabling POP in Sky Email? To ensure that Sky Email can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save Changes on the Sky Email Mail Settings page.

Double check the settings and the FAQ page and you should manage to get it

To Jane & j-u-l-e-s thank you, thank you, thank you, have a dancing banana each :banana:

I hadn't enabled POP even though I thought I had, plus I had to add @sky.com to the username in Mailwasher and bingo it worked!!

Brilliant, I'm a happy bunny now.  :005:
