AVG error message, help please!
« on: December 29, 2008, 09:46:53 PM »
I've been using the free AVG 8.0 since August, found it better than Norton as it doesn't keep giving pop up messages. But now I'm getting a message saying it's out of date, if I click on the 'update now' button I then get a message saying 'Invalid CTF file'.

Should I uninstall the AVG and download another version off their website? Or give up and install Kaspersky?

I'm not the world's greatest IT person  ph34r so was hoping for an easy option!

Thanks
Sam

Hello, I have been using AVG for several years and am very happy with it. I would do exactly as you said and uninstall and reinstall.

Hope it fixes your problems.

Think we are sorted  :D

Found a link on their FAQ which had easy to follow instructions (idiot proof!) of how to remove the currupted file, then when I ran the update, it sorted itself out  :D

Thanks for the advice  :D
