Puppy Teeth
« on: February 12, 2017, 02:16:46 PM »
Hi all, back again!

I found a couple of Ernest's teeth in my bed the other week! [emoji23]

Having looked in his mouth, he is now resembling a small shark. Some of his baby teeth have come out, with the adult ones starting to grow in. However, some of the baby teeth are still there, with the adult teeth growing behind them! So effectively he has 2 rows of teeth. Monty never had this. Has anyone else's pup had this? Will the adult teeth just push them out?

Thanks all!

I think some of Bea's mouth was like this,

I do often say the Jaws line of " I think we need a bigger boat" when I look into Bea's mouth sometimes  :005:

From needles to gnashers, you can see why they do so much chewing.

Hi, - yes we had this with Humphrey for a short while but eventually the milk teeth were pushed out. I mentioned it to my vet at the time and he said it was pretty normal but its adviseable to just keep an eye out as they can cause a bit of trouble.. Something to chew on will help but if they do become red or stay like it for too long, then its a good idea to have the vet check them!
Hope Ernest's tooth fairy is being generous!!  :luv:

An old rolled up and frozen tea towel is good for teething.
I remember Bramble losing nine in one weekend!  ;)

Blue loved his frozen rags to chew on at that stage!

What sort of age is it likely that teeth start to fall out? My puppy is 4 months old and loves chewing

Murphys canines grew along side his baby teeth. One refused to fall out so we played a bit of tug with a knotted rope and it soon dropped out.

Teal removed most of hers on various parts of my anatomy  including my left nostril.

I think a few of Charlie's done that, but they all sorted thereselves out- he was and still is a proper chewer (on his toys) so this helped. A long with hanging onto my trouser legs when he was small. 😂
