Title: Lipfold dermatitis
Post by: Finvarra on March 11, 2024, 12:22:23 PM
Dylan has had this for a while, I have been keeping on top of it with diluted Hibiscrub and steroid cream, but it never goes away. Vet has suggested surgery, and wondering if anyone has had it done, and was the result good?

It’s a relatively easy operation with good results.

Thanks, I'm leaning towards getting it done as it just never quite goes away, and must be sore.

Dylan had the surgery on Monday. My vet likened it to having a facelift (I nearly asked him for a two for one  :lol2:). He had quite bit of flesh removed, he has a very loose mouth. Stitches in for two weeks. He was quite distresssed on the way home, but is his perky self now. He has to wear the cone of shame til the stitches are out, we now have bruised shins and battered walls  :D.
Vet said his saliva was quite thick and gelatinous, said it was common the breed - not heard this before 🤔

Not the cone of shame!   :005:  poor Dylan  :luv:  Glad he has that done now and hopefully he will heal well and you can get rid of that cone/weapon.

Oh Dylan - the cone of shame.  Enjoy your ram raids :005:  The walls can take it.

Just to add I am informed that  thick and gelatinous saliva is something you get with mouth surgery.

Will get back to you with that in a few weeks ;)

Hope you make a quick recovery darling boy.

xx :luv:

He's coping quite well with the cone, but has no sense of spatial awareness with it, and just batters his way around the house (and our legs!). As a great sniffer he's hoovering up the moss on the patio with the edge of the cone  :005:
