Nail clippers
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:09:06 PM »
I'm not sure if this should go in here or in shopping.

I have a set of nail clippers which work like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nail-Clippers-Grooming-Scissors-Dogs/dp/B0051949XY

but I've seen one which cut different
http://www.groomers-online.com/product.php/1260/mikki-deluxe-nail-clippers

I'm just wondering which are the best "style" to go for. I've found the first ones don't seem to cut Charlie's nails very well, but I'm not sure if that is a) the idiot using them, b) the clippers or c) Charlie's nails.

His nails just seem to splinter in half when I do it - hence I've not done it for a while - it's mainly his dew claw I've done, the other nails are short enough through walking.

I must admit I prefer the Mikki type clippers to the guillotine type, I can't get on with them. I suppose it's personal preference  ;)

I have both, and use the mikki ones on my cockers. They seem to cut better, and although neither 'enjoys' having their nails trimmed, they are much better with them.....less squirmy  :005:

I just wanted to update this with my findings...I bought a pair of the "scissor" types ones and I tried it, perfect, no nail splitting or anything, the guillotine ones are more difficult to use I think!
