Zoe's photo just about broke my heart, that poor little soul.  :'( :luv:

12-12-07 This is Zoë, she is an ex breeding cocker. She has a very bad eye infection that the breeder was giving her cream for, but Zoë is also blind. She is 6 years old and gentle and so sweet. She is overweight but being blind she did not run about as much as the other dogs she lived with. We are hoping for her to be able to see an eye specialist once the infection's cleared up to find out if  she can have an operation to let her see again. She is good with other dogs and actually relies on them for her eyes.

There you go.

Perhaps say that she isnt such a handfull as she doesnt run around as much.

Dont make me fly to England for her please.

Tell your OH that I will sponsor her of any operations needed. PM me if you like.

Cheers

Damian, you are really a big softie, what an offer!!  You can't help every needy cocker in the world you know!  :005:

Dorrit, you had better get to work on your OH - I can imagine Mulally and Rommel packing their bags right now!   ;) :005:

shes lovely. what a shame.  It is hard work to take on a blind dog though, i have an 11 year old labrador who blind in the one and only eye she has (she was born with 1 eye and we saved her at birth as the breeder was going to have her pts)  She had sight in her eye untill age 5 then gradually went blind.  She has been to specialists and nothing can be done to get her sight back.

Anyway back to the point, when i moved into my own house i brought her with me but she couldnt settle as she was unsure of her surroundings - she had been in the same house for 9 years and even though she couldnt see she knew her way around.  I ended up taking her back to live with my dad where she was comfortable.  Also it is quite hard to keep her weight down as the vet says its unsafe for her to be off the lead so she can't run around.  She is such a lovely dog though.

Anyone who is considering taking on zoe it will be hard work but good luck she is lovely  :luv:

Bump.

Any word on Zoe?

My twin brother is going to England to be with his new OH and is tossing up not coming back. I said I will pay his rent and store all his gear and even go in and quit his job for him (hey, I am a twin after all) and all he has to do is look after Zoe then bring her home to Oz one day for Rommel and I.

21-12-07 UPDATE

Zoë is now on eye drops for dry eye as she does not make her own tears and eye cream for an infection. Her eyes have cleared miraculously and she now can see us. We are taking her for another check to see if she needs any work on her eye lashes. She is a super cocker, really friendly and a true delight.

07-01-08 FOSTER UPDATE

HOORAY! dear Zoe can see well now. She has nearly finished her 2nd course of drops.  Her eyelashes have now turned out & are not irritating her eyes & the infection has completely cleared. In fact her eyesight is now so good that she chased a bird out of the garden this morning & can follow a ball rolled in front of her.  Doesn't chase one yet, but is running about getting into all sorts of mischief, as if she is making up for her lost puppyhood.  She loves the other dogs and us,  She doesn't chase the cats, but loves the rubbish bin & any smelly socks left about.  It is a real joy to see her enjoying herself after being such a frightened girl when she first came to us.  Someone with oodles of love & cuddles please, for this very special lady as she is a real treasure.
