Title: Four Paws Animal Rescue, home wanted: Alfie, 10 mo old working cocker boy
Post by: PennyB on August 22, 2008, 04:12:51 PM
Alfie is now being fostered in South Wales and is now up for rehoming.

The ideal sort of home for him would be an active family who will be committed to bringing Alfie on as he hasn't had much in the way of training (he is housetrained though). We would prefer sensible older children (12+; he has lived with younger children but we get the feeling they were too much for him as he was too much for them ;))

He will be neutered before rehoming (plus can be seen at the weekend ;) Aberdare Carnival and the Hope Rescue show in Nelson)

Adoption procedures are here (along with the adoption form, which you can download from the website) Four Paws Animal Rescue Adoption Procedures (http://www.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/adoption_procedures.html)

Just occasionally, one of these rescues makes me want to throw common sense out of the window and get on a ferry - and Alfie is definitely one of those dogs for me  :luv:

I am sure he will find his forever home soon; and hopefully, his new owners will become (or already be) members of COL, so that we can keep up to date on his progress and see him mature into a fabulous companion  :D

he looks a lovely lad and one that doesnt deserve to be in rescue. 10 months old and in south wales ? puppy farm??
whatever his circumstances I hope he gets a forever home soon.
mark if you are in the running I wish you well. A better home he would not get.

Comes from a breeder that is breeding working cockers but doesn't work them or do anything with them and just sells them to pet homes. As per usual ending up in the wrong type of home for his needs

Jarv sez good luck, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and he hoped that he was a good enough boy on the New Forest walk so Mrs TB was won over by the solid liver chaps  :D :luv:

Hopefully you will get to meet him Helen!
Don't know why Cath has gone for this? just showed her the piccies and she never said no straight away which was a good sign.
I also need another dog I can do something with as both Douglas and Bayley have their isues as you know and ollie is ready for retirement.
Oliver is my only 100% dog friendly dog which as a trainer I need from time to time.
If Alfie comes here he'll be working for his keep, which will be good for him.
I intend to keep a video diary of his progress this time which is something I wished I had done with Bayley.
I just hope for all our sakes things work out!
Mark

Its a difficult one as everyone knows we are a very small rescue and our priorities are for saving dogs form being pts (and Alfie is effectively safe) we do every week so and in order to help Mark out we are going to meet up with him but unfortunately this will take time over the other things we do. I know Kirsty is trying to aim for next sunday but doesn't want to tie herself to that (her mum collapsed last weekend while I was on the phone with her). Plus I know Mark also wanted to wait anyway. So everyone will just have to be patient, we are trying our best.
