West Yorkshire Dog Rescue - 2 y/o Valentino

http://www.westyorkshiredogrescue.co.uk/dogs.htm

Valentino is a 2 years old Cocker Spaniel who is very affectionate, intelligent and active.

She is a strong character with slightly stubborn tendencies so experienced owners are needed who understand reward based training as she will do anything for a tasty treat.

She is not suitable to live with children due to her stubborn nature although visiting children over 10 years would be fine.  She is still "puppy mouthing" so takes your hand into her mouth when she is playing or excited, which needs training out of her.  Spreading lemon juice on your hand is a good deterrent !!!!

Valentino currently lives with another submissive dog but she may sometimes become possessive over toys so consideration should be given to her being an only dog.   The exception to this would be a very good dog handler as an owner who is capable of managing the situation.  I say this because the professional dog sitter has no problem with Valentino in a pack in her house.

As the video shows, when Valentino is out and about with dogs she knows she is very calm and sociable and loves the company of dogs on a walk.  However sometimes finds larger unfamiliar dogs intimidating and so can be quite vocal barking at them until she knows they are no threat

Strong on the lead, brilliant off lead, she has a high prey drive so will chase animals and will need to be controlled in areas where there are livestock.

Valentino would excel at obedience trials or dog agility so you can have a lot of fun with her.  She is a loyal dog with a lot of love to give.

NO CATS PLEASE
