Winnie at Many Tears
« on: May 14, 2009, 10:20:35 PM »

 :luv: :luv: :luv:
14-05-09 Winnie and her sister Wist came to us from a breeder. She is a 6 year old, very large (portly) cocker ex breeding bitch. She does not know how to walk on a lead, or about living indoors, but she will love it all once she has learnt. She will need a home with an existing dog to show her the ropes and she will need to diet. She has a super temperament.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying.  You will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog.  All our dogs are micro-chipped, inoculated and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  If you are adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £150.  If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on 01269 843084. We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered.

28-05-09 UPDATE

Winnie is an absolute sweetheart! She's gentle, quiet, calm and loving........in fact, a total babe. During the time she's been with us, and joined a group of 12 other dogs without hesitation, she's started looking for cuddles and human company. It's often the way, with these ex-breeding girls, that they try to avoid humans initially; but Winnie has settled so well in four days that she's already feeling confident enough to approach us. She is a very laid-back little girl who likes a gentle walk or play in the garden, followed by a nice snooze in a comfy bed. We've had no "accidents" at all, and she sleeps all night without a murmur. She's also learning about walking on a lead, and is coming along well. Winnie would suit a kind, patient home, where she could go for shorter walks (perhaps an older family?) and be allowed to gain confidence, preferably helped by another gentle dog or bitch.
